Mercedes-Benz AMG E-Cell
At the Detroit Motor Show 2011 CEO of Mercedes-Benz, Dieter Zetsche said that the project on top of serial production electric supercar SLS AMG E-Cell is given the green light. «Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG E-Cell is the most technologically advanced car in the entire 125-year history of the automobile, and it shows how magnificent can be electric cars. Our customers can order this car at dealerships "Mercedes-Benz in 2013," - said Zetsche.
Supercar is powered by four electric motors (one for each wheel), total capacity is 526 horsepower, and torque - approximately 880 Nm. Engines receive energy from a set of lithium-ion batteries with water cooling, can be recharged using a system of energy recovery during braking. According to the company's Mercedes-Benz, from zero to hundred kilometers an hour a car can accelerate in four seconds, that is only two tenths of a second slower than the petrol 571-strong SLS AMG. Cruising electro-SLS has not called.
Recall that to create an electric supercar Mercedes-Benz engineers had to completely redo the front suspension (so that you can put electric motors) and battery for better weight distribution on axes placed inside the transmission tunnel, the site of a traditional engine and behind the seats. In addition, Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG E-Cell has powerful brakes with carbon-ceramic discs and 19-inch wheels with tires of dimension 265/35 front and 295/30 rear.
